The International Conference on Intelligent Virtual Agents (http://iva09.dfki.de/) was held in NEMO between 14-16 Septembers. This year’s special topic was games.

The meeting presented research on computer techniques for simulating people in virtual environments, including how to model human-like social intelligence, how to generate speech, gestures and emotions, and how these behaviours impact human users.

Jonathan Gratch, one of CAMeRA’s fellows, presented papers on

  • Expression of Emotions using Wrinkles; Blushing; Sweating and Tears by Celso de Melo, Jonathan Gratch

and

  • Expression of Moral Emotions in Cooperating Agents by Celso de Melo, Liang Zheng, Jonathan Gratch

along with several posters.
