Amsterdam Bijlmer Care Center

The Amsterdam-Bijlmer Care Center (ABCC) is a building project in the South East of Amsterdam to upgrade the area with a center for short-term care. Within 4 years time, 300 apartments will be realized, the inhabitants of which help take care of the 125 patients that reside in the care-facility. To monitor and support all inhabitants, the CAMeRA was asked to run a feasibility study to turn this facility into a full-fledged domotica building and create a so-called living lab in the health domain thereafter.

CAMeRA’s project manager and sole initiator of this endeavor is Dr. Peter Roelofsma (Methods Dept.). The groups of the VU University that were involved so far were the Methods Dept., Artificial Intelligence, Anthropology, Sociology, and Medicine.

The partners in this project are the city of Amsterdam, Rochdale housing cooperation, DeltaForte building company, Amsta health insurance.
